Touchscreen Dash

Having had the new touch-screen for over a year I thought it was about time I did something about installing it, this time allowing it to be easily removed for security.

A Defender, AND a sheet of ply in the garage!

The original dash stripped down

Cardboard templates made to match the profile of the dash, it took two iterations to get a decent model

One side piece cut and trial fitted.

Both side pieces fitted, with touch screen mounts, and on the bench. The third mount at the back is pegged on a dowel either side, as there's no room to get a screwdriver in to a screw head.

One of the side pieces

trial fit of the two side pieces

side pieces with top, screen frame and bottom glued in.

Dash centre section trimmed back, and extended to the left.

Which allows the CB to sit to the far left, to miss the gear knob

Front section cut for CB, with space for the RWW switch and cigar lighter to the right.

Side supports added for the CB, with extra webs for strength.

Trial fit of the front panel.
